The London School of Economics (LSE) and the Hellenic LSE Alumni Association held a Gala Event at the Zappeion in Athens, to celebrate the naming of the Elias Paraskevas floor, honouring the founder of the firm, in the new academic building of the School.

March 16, 2006

The firm co-sponsored with Stephenson Harwood a seminar entitled "Foreign Investments -- Resolving Disputes" at the Athens Hilton.  This seminar addressed the effective management of foreign investment disputes, including the topics of the do's and don'ts of the investment agreement, recommended procedures for enforcing remedies in contract, tracing the assets of defaulting counterparties, and solutions offered for problem investments in areas such as the Balkans and the Middle East.

The firm co-sponsored the Euromoney Conference “Greece 2005: The Year of Competitiveness” at the Athens Hilton.  The firm’s Managing Partner, Dimitris Paraskevas, participated as a speaker in a panel discussion entitled “Shifting into a Higher Gear:  Reworking the Greek Economy for the Future,” along with other distinguished speakers such as Rauiri Quinn, Former Minister for Finance and Chairperson for the European Movement Ireland, Republic of Ireland, and Plutarchos Sakellaris, Chairman, Council of Economic Advisers, Ministry of Economy and Finance, Greece.

The firm co-sponsored the Euromoney Conference “Post Olympic Greece: Infrastructural Development and Financial Innovation,” at the Athens Hilton.  The firm’s Managing Partner, Dimitris Paraskevas, participated as a speaker in a panel discussion entitled “The Greek Economy After the Olympics,” along with other distinguished speakers including Professor Helen Louri, Economic Advisor to the Prime Minister, and Paul Mylonas, Director of Research, Chief Economist of the Group and Head of Investor Relations, National Bank of Greece.

The firm celebrated the 70th anniversary of the firm  at a dinner at the House of Lords, London, hosted by the Rt. Hon. The Lord Jellicoe and the Rt. Hon. The Baroness Symons.  Distinguished guests included Lord Moynihan, Lady Soames, Lord Irvine of Lairg, the Honorable Anastasios Skopelitis, Greek Ambassador, and Baroness Patricia Rawlings, amongst others.

The Paraskevas Art Collection, “Art Place and Figure” was inaugurated at the Museum of the City of Athens.  Distinguished guests included the Minister of Culture Mr. Evangelos Venizelos, the Mayor of Athens Ms. Dora Bakogianni, the Ambassador of the Netherlands Mr. P. Brouwer, the General Secretariat of the Minister of Public Works, Planning and Environment Mr. George Ganotis, the Deputy Minister of  Development Ms. Milena Apostolaki, and other contemporary distinguished artists including Costas Varotsos and Alekos Fasianos.

Every Year

The firm sponsors a Fulbright scholarship for graduate studies in the United States of America, through the Elias Paraskevas Foundation and in memory of the firm’s founder, Elias Paraskevas.
